I finished all 8 books already.

I’m currently rooting for Team Eric. 😀

I want to know more about Hunter.

I’m eager to get my hands on the 9th book, Dead and Gone (coming out May 2009). Downside of reading a series? The waiting part!!

to dream vividly
of star-filled skies
of mornings with rainbows
of sunshine streaming
through windows
of the moon smiling
planets winking
of the trees whispering
gossip with the wind.

to wake up seeing you
holding me close
making everything
sweet and warm.

Finally!

For weeks, I was searching for something entertaining to read. Last weekend (albeit by chance), I came across author Charlaine Harris and her creation Sookie Stackhouse of the Southern Vampire Mystery Series. I first saw a boxed set of the first 7 books and got intrigued. However, without any means to look for reviews about the series, I decided to buy only two (2) out of the 7 books (Dead to the World and Definitely Dead), the ones with the catchiest titles and more interesting summaries among the 3 or 4 that are loose on the shelves.

I started on Definitely Dead and I finished it in a day. I googled Charlaine Harris and found out the order and number of books released in the series. There are now 8 books, with the 9th to be released this year (2009). Since I found the book enjoyable and entertaining, I immediately regretted not buying the boxed set. I called the bookstore where I saw it but alas, the 2 sets I saw were already sold.

So what did the Bibliophile in me do? I called the nearest bookstores and the ones that we can visit, and asked for the availability of the other titles. Out of the 9 bookstores I called, I was able to complete the first 7 titles by reserving books in 2 stores, where luckily, some titles are still available. (The more popular branches/bookstores were sold out.)

I think I can finish the books in a couple of days. And, knowing me, I’ll be eager for the next books in the series. Each individual title can stand alone on its own, but there are back stories so it is recommend to read the first book first. Definitely Dead, the first title I read is in the middle of the series. I still enjoyed it as it is but when I got the other books and read the first ones before it, I understood some scenes in Definitely Dead better.

The books are definitely entertaining! I posted here (above) the thumbnails of the covers, in order of release. The 9th book, Dead and Gone, is due for release on May 2009. The first chapter is available on the author’s official website, http://www.charlaineharris.com.

P.S. The HBO Series Trueblood is based on the Sookie Stackhouse novels. However, I haven’t seen the show nor am I suddenly interested to. I read Sookie was played by Anna Paquin. Can’t quite picture Anna as Sookie. But well, whatever works for the casting director!

And we’re back!

Happy New Year Everybody! I hope you all were able to (actually or virtually) spend your Holidays with your loved ones, and were able to travel a bit, catch up on your reading, or do whatever it is you people consider as the best form of rest and relaxation.

Days went by so fast! Truth be told, with all the parties and gatherings and christmas shopping, I don’t think I accomplished everything on my list of things to do. But I’m not really complaining – my beloved and I were able to do some local traveling, and our photographs now clearly show how we enjoyed the new sights and experiences.

Now, its back to work for most. As we go through our daily grind, let us keep in mind that it is now time to forget negative thoughts and live in the now, and be hopeful for a brighter and happier tomorrow!

Peace, prosperity, love, joy and good health to all!

Happy Holidays Everybody!

(I’ll be on a more than 2 weeks hiatus to spend quality time with my loved ones. I wish all of you joy, peace, good health and prosperity for now and always!)

See you in 2009!

and there was you

drift in and out
of her consciousness
intertwining with
the memory
of their love
when it was beautiful
as her heart
beats exhausted
from begging
everything that’s Holy
for his adoration.

My friend and I were talking the other day and we discussed songs that are about first loves or early relationships. (Note: I guess this was a side effect of the book “Twilight,” which we both read a number of times. The reason? Two words: Edward Cullen. :-D) We agreed that we both like the songs “Million Miles Away” (Joey Albert), “Afraid for Love to Fade and Is She Thinking About Me?” (Jose Mari Chan), “Can This Be Love? (Smokey Mountain), “Looking Through the Eyes of Love” (Melissa Manchester) and “I Never Dreamed Someone Like You Could Love Someone Like Me” (Katie Irving).

Spurred by this retro feeling, I remembered the song “Stay” by Ric Segreto (deceased). I remembered the (love) story of a college friend who was with a guy who she had an “undefined” relationship with. The guy sent her a CD of this song. Being an old (cheesy) love song, it was unknown to her but when she listened to the song, she loved it. Whenever we would ride in her car, the CD was playing! I don’t know if they ended up together because that friend of mine and I lost track of each other. But theirs was a sweet love story.

Intrigued? There are postings of the song in Imeem. You can listen to it here.
